We, the students at Santa Ana Middle College High School, feel that AVID demines our right to choose our electives and although this is a school for extraordinary acheivement, we feel that the people who are already acheiving the extraordinary should not be required to take these classes. It gives students more homework and takes up time that could be better used for another class that is necissary to graduate (the less classes you have to take, the less homework you wil lhave in the long run). So, what we would like, is that students only be required to take AVID if they are receiving beneath a 2.0 GPA or if they are a freshman (or if it is their first year at MCHS). This will give all students the AVID training as a freshman (or new student) that will help them later on. Acheivement above a 2.0 GPA is above average (assuming that all C's is average), which is our goal, so why give extra work to students who have already been trying harder to surpass the goals for them set by the MCHS staff. We hope that you will consider our students and the already large amount of work that they have in your decision.
