Petition Against La Salle's Guest Policy

This petition has been created in opposition to La Salle University's 'new' Guest Policy which seeks to take away a student's right to have a guest of the opposite sex overnight in the dorm room for which they pay for. Under this policy effective September 22nd 2004, no guests of the opposite sex will be permitted to stay in a student's dorm overnight. This includes boyfriends, girlfriends, friends, brothers, sisters, and family members. The school 'suggests' that guests of the opposite sex make hotel reservations at a nearby hotel. We do not think this policy is fair and has no real backing or logical reason for being created. Also the school plans on taking it further to make it so that even students who live on campus will be kicked off opposite gender's floor at a designated time each evening. We also feel this policy is a direct violation of our rights, including our rights to privacy. If anything it is absurd to think any student will throw their guest out on the streets at 2 in the morning or tell them to go find a hotel because of such a poorly designed policy.
