We the fans of the NFL, and avid gamers alike, demand that the NFL cease their exclusive agreement with EA and allow more then a single studio to produce NFL video games. Under the newly extended agreement, EA has exclusive rights to produce NFL games until 2013. Because of this extension, many gamers will be forced to continue playing NFL 2k5 ,highly regarded as the best football game ever made, far beyond Madden '08.
Regardless if gamers are fans of the Madden franchise, this exclusivity deal has set back the video game representation of football years. When a game that was sold four years ago is still regarded as the best football simulation, you know there is a problem. EA is simply relying on the NFL brand to sell games. There are no major steps forward being taken to make Madden games more realistic, just minor changes for the sake of something new to push the perennial roster update that is Madden.
If more then one studio was allowed to produce NFL games, the resulting competition would push football games closer to realism at a much faster pace. Even the ones produced by EA. This would be a major victory for gamers and fans of the NFL.
