Petition to grant a retrial to Jamal "Shyne" Barrows

All participants in support of a retrial for Mr. Jamal Barrows (SHYNE) are asked to sign this petition. By signing you agree that Mr Barrows should receive a retrial. Jamal "Shyne" Barrows was sentenced to 10 years in a New York court for allegedly shooting and wounding two people during a dispute between rap impresario Sean "Puffy" Combs and another man in a Times Square nightclub. Shyne's 10 year sentence was harsh and extreme. Shyne feared for his personal safety as a result he opened fire in a nightclub.

The District Attorney's office and the NYPD has tampered with witnesses involved in the incident. Threating jail time and excessive fines if they did not cooperate. Mr. Barrows deserves a retrial because with the D.A. and NYPD's influence there was no way Mr Barrows could receive a fair trial. The media convicted Shyne before he excercised his constitutional right to a fair trial.

The other indivduals involved were aquitted of charges and are free at this moment. Mr. Jamal Barrows is no threat to society. He was an up and coming rap artist signed to Sean "Puffy" Combs label Bad Boy Entertainment. Requiring Jamal Barrows to serve 10 years will be a great injustice.

While holding the hand of one of his lawyers, Barrow, 22, recited the Lord's Prayer and then apologized to the court and his victims. He told Solomon that he was not a threat to society and asked for leniency. Barrow was charged with first-degree assault, gun possession, and reckless endangerment. His co-defendants -- Combs and his bodyguard, Anthony "Wolf" Jones -- were acquitted of bribery and gun possession. According to a statement released by Combs, an appeal is likely. "Shyne's sentence is unfair and extreme as I know he had no intention of hurting anyone," Combs said. "My prayers are with him and his family. I'm shocked by today's outcome. I will continue to support Shyne throughout his appeal."
