Petition to make Health a voluntary high school course.

In order for higher Grade Point Averages and more interesting courses to be attained, Heath class should not be a mandatory subject to graduate High School. Though it is very important, it should not be important enough to be made mandatory. If it is, it should be an option to take in 9th or 10th grade. Free up the slot in the schedule for a more challenging, practical subject, a weighted one to improve GPA's for those who strive to be the best. We learn about drugs, the human body, family values and consumer sciences throughout our childhood and even adulthood. People may think highschoolers are clueless about all of these issues, whether these beliefs are fueled by the media or not, they're just not the case. Most teenagers know very much about these subjects from sources other than school; maybe family, home, media, books... there are countless sources for information about anything and everything. For those who don't know this important information, that is what taking it in an earlier year can achieve.







I know this probably won't change by the time I'm in 11th grade, so it won't be quick enough to personally affect me, however; it is my strongest belief that Health should not be a mandatory subject in highschool and we all think it should be changed. Thank you.
