Petition to Terminate the Contract of Kevin McHale

We present for Mr. Taylor's review the following evidence to suggest that a change of management be made:
(1) Failure to deliver a championship in ten years as Vice-President of Basketball Operations.
(2) Failure to make adequate draft selections on an annual basis, with the exception of the drafting of Kevin Garnett in 1995.
(3) Aiding in the signing of Joe Smith to an illegal contract, thereby leading to the forfeiture of three first round picks over the course of five seasons.
(4) Misleading the fans of this organization by making repeated claims desiring to 'be aggressive' during the offseason, yet making limited moves and signing mere role players to the roster.
(5) Letting several key players leave this organization, for various and petty reasons, including:
Tom Gugliotta
Terry Porter
Bobby Jackson
Chauncey Billups
In the case of Jackson, he was let go in favor of an unproven rookie, Will Avery. Chauncey Billups was let go because he could not be promised 'starter's minutes' even though the starting point guard was injured.
(6) Not trading Latrell Sprewell in a timely fashion after his turned down a three-year, $21 million contract extension offer, knowing that the Timberwolves were likely not going to be able to keep him and knowing that Sprewell would likely sulk during the final season of his contract.
Due to the above evidence, we request that Kevin McHale be relieved of his duties as Vice President of Basketball Operations. Furthermore, we request that the Minnesota Timberwolves begin an immediate search to replace him with an individual from a successful NBA franchise who will show a willingness and desire to bring a championship organization to the great fans of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
