Play only Kannada songs on S-FM

Purpose of the Petition:



This petition is addressed to:



1. The Sun Network who run a Radio FM channel called Sun FM 93.5 in Bangalore.



2. To all Kannada music, language loving people.







S-FM 93.5 was started in Bangalore a few months ago. When the radio channel started, the people behind the channel advertised everywhere that it will be an Exclusive Kannada Radio channel.







There are many other Radio Channels in Bangalore which play Kannada songs. But most of them play other language songs together with Kannada songs. And some others play one or two Kannada songs in between all other languages.







S-FM became famous with the common Kannada listeners just because it played only Kannada songs. It should be noted that most of the Kannada speaking people never tuned into FM channels mainly because, they dint play Kannada songs properly. S-FM was successful in gaining the confidence of this distinct listeners. Due to such distinct listeners, S-FM has gained a lot of revenue. The advertisers prefer to reach out this distinct class of listeners which no other channel has.







The listeners are similar to consumers. If a radio channel has no listeners, then no business enterprise will approach them for ads. Kannada listeners have played the role in increasing S-FM's ad revenues.







Earlier, they played some non-Kannada songs in late night. But now, they have started playing 3-4 Hindi songs in an hour. The number of non-Kannada songs has increased. When enquired, the RJ's have told that they want to reach the North listeners, hence they are playing Hindi songs also.







We are not against any language. Every one has the freedom to listen to their favourite music. But, S-FM which in the beginning published that it would only play Kannada songs has now broken its own promise made to its customers (radio listeners). Subsequently, in the game of gaining more non-Kannada listeners, the channel will surely lose its "sincere" Kannada listeners.







Come on all Kannadigas, let us all voice out our opinion to the S-FM owners-- Sun Network.







We bring it to the notice of Sun Network that already many "sincere" Kannda listeners have stopped tuning into S-FM after listening to other language songs. The listeners kept some belief in your radio channel in the beginning. Now they are losing the confidence and faith they kept on you. If you don't stop playing non-Kannada songs, then you will lose many more listeners which will finally affect your revenue. The non-Kannada listeners already have enough channels to cater their needs. You may fail in your efforts to gain non-Kannada listeners.







If you are so concerned about entertaining non-Kannada listeners and get some more revenue, then kindly start another radio channel and put any African language songs also, we dont care.
