To 20th Century Fox, Brett Ratner, Zak Penn, Simon Kinberg and the rest of the cast/crew involved with "X-Men 3":
We, the undersigned, have heard internet rumors saying that Cyclops (played by James Marsden) and Professor Xavier (played by Patrick Stewart) will die in "X-Men 3" and that Storm (played by Halle Berry) will take their place as leader. Should the rumors turn out to be true, we're here to tell you NOT to kill them off.
We feel that killing off Professor Xavier and Cyclops is a grave mistake and these characters are too important to be killed off. Also, Xavier and Cyclops have been grossly underused in the previous films. Killing off the characters would make no sense and would be put on-screen simply for "shock factor". These rumors of their deaths have been plaguing fans for months and it's time to stop it. Should Xavier and Cyclops die, it will hurt the box-office of "X-Men 3". Check out the message boards of websites from eagerly-awaiting fans if you don't believe me.
Nobody wants to see Cyclops and Xavier die just to give Storm a bigger part. That's just wrong. That's not the way to give Storm something to do, and there are many fans who will be upset if two of the main characters get killed off. While the third death in the film is rumored, claiming at first it would be Magneto and now the latest rumor is it will be Jean Grey, but you don't need character deaths to shock, surprise and tell a good story. You need a good story to tell a good story. Simple as that.
In short, please do NOT kill Xavier and Cyclops. There are a lot more Xavier and Cyclops fans than people think and more than Fox gives credit for. Please make sure they do not get killed off and you will keep many, many, many, MANY "X-Men" fans happy.
