Please Stop the Free Loan of Cat Traps for the Purpose of Killing Cats

We appeal to you to stop the free loan of cat traps in the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) for the purpose of killing cats.





Instead AVA should advocate the use of humane cat-repellent methods such as the Cat-Stop and the ScareCrow.





Cats caught in such traps have been witnessed to suffer undue stress from being left over the weekend, without food and water, and from injuries sustained in frantic attempts to escape. Surely this is cruel and violates the "ANIMALS AND BIRDS ACT" that is administered by the AVA.





Removal of cats thus trapped to be killed only provides a knee-jerk solution. This is a "vacuum effect" and cats will move in again after a period of time.


This endless cycles of killing is a waste of taxpayers' monies and out of sync with a nation that is also striving to cultivate compassion as a core value.





Please direct the AVA to work with animal welfare organisations such as the Cat Welfare Society and the SPCA to address complaints about cats.
