Western Forest Products Inc.(WFP) is planning on logging old growth Douglas Fir in the immediate areas of Scout and Antler Lakes adjacent to the Village of Gold River on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. It is the goal of the participants of this petition to provide a voice against the proposed harvesting of this particular area of citizen-valued forest.

The signatures collected on this official online petition will be forwarded to all levels of governments from municipal to provincial and on through to the federal level. In addition this petition will be sent to the Ministries of Forest, Environment (Protection, Assessment), Parks and Recreation, and Sustainability, official government sanctioned Legislation Parties and their oppositions; and all other affiliations that will be brought to our attention while this campaign develops.

To remain clear: This is NOT a petition that intends to protest logging companies that harvest forests. We are not asking for all logging to cease activity. We may support smart, sustainable harvesting of wood; we are simply opposed to the harvesting of this valued, multi-use old growth forest that has become a staple of recreation and tourism for the local town of Gold River. We understand that this forest and its close proximity to the beautiful town of Gold River is a true treasure worth defending.

Every signature is a voice. If you sign this petition, you are making your voice available. Sign this form and send its link to as many people as you can and in turn have those people send it to as many people as they can - after all there is a strength in numbers.

In addition to signing this petition against the harvesting of old growth forests in or around the vicinity of Scout or Antler lakes by WFP (or ANY logging corporation), you will have the chance to offer support of turning these particular areas into designated, protected Provincial Parks via a "yes" or "no" answer. If you support the idea of the possibility of considering the Lakes as a unified protected Provincial Park, then say "yes". If there is a strong support for these areas to be designated as Provincial Parks, we will also consider pursuing that avenue in the near future.

Thank you in advance for any time and consideration you have given.
