TO: CONGRESS OF THE UNITED STATES
We hereby Petition for a Law to be inacted to make it a felony punishable by law to take advantage of a victim of natural or manmade disasters. We have seen too much fraudulent and immoral acts perpetrated by others on these people in the aftermath of disaster before they can get back on their feet. This should include price gouging and excessive reconstruction contracts. There should be a clause in any decisions made by FEMA victims in regards to contracts, oral or written, to allow for 60 days to change their decision due to the psychological distress of such disasters.
