Protect our children and communities

In loving memory of Jessica Lunsford, Carlie Brucia, and so many others, we respectfully request immediate action be taken to protect our most innocent.

We acknowledge and emphatically support the need for new legislation regarding sexual predators and sexual offenders within our communities. Unfortunately, such legislation takes time to implement and our children cannot afford to wait.

We ask respectfully that all pertinent information, including name and photograph, regarding registered sexual predators and sexual offenders within a given zip code be posted in public view at all parks, playgrounds, ball fields and other areas where potential victims-our children- congregate within that zip code. We ask that these postings be regularly maintained for accuracy.

Our request is a simple one that does not require a significant amount of legal debate or expense to execute; therefore, we request that immediate action be taken to implement these measures.

In recent days and weeks, we have witnessed our legislative and judicial branches working feverishly in defense of human life. We ask that this petition be treated with the same urgency, passion, and priority.

Tougher legislation regarding sexual offenders and sexual predators is crucial to the protection of our children and our families and will have tremendous impact in the near future, but we need to act TODAY. Community vigilance is the key. I encourage all of you to sign this petition and to share it with your family and friends. Most importantly, however, remember that we all have a responsibility to take care of the children.
