On Aug. 23, 2007, the Private Security and Investigative Services Act, 2005, came into effect. The new law requires security workers to be licensed, including some that were not licensed previously.
If you are now a security guard, private investigator, bodyguard, bouncer or loss prevention personnel, you MUST now apply for a licence from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.

The private security industry in the province of Ontario has been neglected and abused for years. The private companies operating within the industry have done little to nothing to improve the conditions that they operate in, and absolutely minimum to improve the conditions for their employees. Those who work in the industry have had their hands tied for years due to the laws that were previously in place.
With the introduction of licensing portability and the PSISA Code of Conduct, those of us who work in the private sector finally have the power to establish an association for all non-management. We can finally take control of our futures, and be recognized as a profession. We are finally in a position to dictate to those companies the standards by which we will be willing to train and work, and no longer have to rely on non-associated ineffective unions.
By signing this petition, I hereby declare that I support the creation of a single Association whose intent is;
To organize all workers in the entire private security and investigative services industry in the Province of Ontario;
To establish the highest level of industry training standards worldwide;
To conduct ourselves within the PSISA Code of Conduct;
To promote reasonable methods of work;
To establish and cultivate open communication among those of our industry;
To assist in settling all disputes between employers and employees by arbitration (if possible);
To assist each other in sickness or distress;
To secure employment;
To secure adequate pay for our work;
Note: Complete confidentiality has / will be exercised. Petition Signatures / Names will not be published. Any and all support welcome.
