This Petition is a result of the current day Federal Government indicating that protecting our rights under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms is not in their jurisdiction at the Municipal Level.
We, citizens of Canada and eligible voters, demand that the Canadian Municipal Code be reviewed and revised to ensure that no City in Canada will be allowed the ability in any way to deny us of our basic legal rights as defined in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
We further demand legislation that municipalities in Canada be forced to do away with self-made appeal committees and tribunals and that matters of by-law violations and civil matters are dealt with properly in a court of appropriate jurisdiction.
We demand that the action to change the Canadian Municipal Code be swift and without delay.
