Reconsideration of Later Bells Times for San Diego Unified School District

PETITION TO SAN DIEGO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
Whereas a start time of 9:20 or later does not allow working parents enough time to drop off their children and still arrive at work at a reasonable hour;
Whereas a dismissal time of 3:50 or later will interfere with the opportunity for students to participate in extra-curricular activities such as sports, language, arts;
Whereas there are no provisions for early drop-off and before-school care is already at full capacity with an extended waiting list;
We ask the SDUSD Board of Education to reconsider their decision to shift bell times by 15 minutes and we ask that the Board maintain current bell times for late-start schools.
