Removal of the Trivial "Hair Length Rule" Within Schools

As many of the individuals reading this petition may know, some schools, mainly private, have strict rules within the dress code pertaining to hair length. It is understandable that unique styles, such as the Mohawk, or odd colorations of the hair may be quite distracting to some students, but the rules against length are simply unreasonable. I can understand how a male student having his hair down past the half of his back would cause a commotion of sorts, but a male student having his hair a few inches past his collar poses virtually no threat to the education of his fellow classmates. Just as well, many schools have cracked down on the "no hair below your eyes/eyebrows" policy. This is a bit more understandable, as the student could be hiding his eyes for reasons such as showing signs of drug use (bloodshot eyes), or he could be sleeping during class without his teacher knowing it. However, as long as the hair is pulled over to the side in order for the teacher to be able to see the student's eyes for the most part, it poses little to no threat as well.

With this being said, there are many more issues that pose MUCH more of a threat than long hair. As previously stated, hair length should be restricted if it is indeed below, for example, the half of the (male) student's back. Any length mostly above that area should prove to not distract any of the student's classmates or take away from the learning experience. My school has tried to fine me twice, and has succeeded once. My hair is barely past my collar, has no odd colorations, and is in a naturally straight style. I find that being punished for such a trivial thing is really not worth the time of those enacting it and those receiving the punishment. So, in conclusion, I would like to ask you to sign this petition in order to remove this rule to prevent any further nonsense. Thank you.
