We, the undersigned, having previously sworn/affirmed our devotion to & love of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (henceforth referred to in this document as "NASA") Astronomy Picture of the Day (henceforth referred to in this document as "AstroPix") by way of daily visits & referrals to others, will not stand for this nonsense any more.
In full accordance with the regulations and bylaws of astronomy photography enthusiasts, we hereby demand that AstroPix be returned to its glory. The AstroPix that we know and fell in love with has been bastardized by recent events including, but not limited to, the Phoenix Mars Lander.
While we do value the work and mission of the Phoenix Mars Lander, and any and all other landers NASA deems fit for interplanetary space exploration, we can't help but long for the days of galaxies, globular clusters, nebulae (aka "the pillars of creation"), and other natural phenomena.
This longing is only intensified by the fact that within AstroPix the esteemed astronomers continue to assign these seemingly standard and routine photographs beautiful names such as, "Snow Queen." As you may imagine, this delightful moniker harks of the depths of space and, once it's discovered that we are looking at a freakin' metal leg and a rock, we are none too happy.
Please NASA, with all the respect and love you are due, please please please...give us a good one tomorrow. Something we can sink our teeth into. Something we can use to get lost within the depths of space from the comfort of our computer monitors, if only for a moment. In short, we want to trip balls for 2 minutes, alone in our offices, before returning to our regularly scheduled bullshit.
If that's not too much to ask, and we certainly hope that we aren't putting you out, we look forward to the glorious return of AstroPix. Do it.
