Return of the King - Extended Edition - What We Want to See

Dear New Line Cinema and Peter Jackson,

We fans of The Return of the King thank you for remaining true to the spirit of the book. For this we are eternally grateful. However, we as fans of the book realize that much was excluded from the film for either pacing issues or runtime reasons, and because of this we are eagerly anticipating the Extended Cut of this film. Below is a listing of scenes that have been rumored to have been filmed and/or are confirmed to have been filmed and seen in various trailers and previews. The list below is a collection of material we desperately need to see included into the Extended Cut. Please take this into account when editing together the final version of the film.



- Voice of Saruman and any extended Isgengard scenes to go along with it

- Mention of Pippin seeing Black Ships in the Palantir if filmed

- The Crossroads sequence

- Extended version of Gandalf's speech in Meduseld as seen in the RoTK Preview on the TTT DVD

- Merry swearing fealty to Theoden as seen in numerous trailers

- Any additional scenes filmed of Denethor with the Palantir

- Denethor upset over Faramir's decision to release Frodo

- More footage from The Paths of the Dead, including the shot of Aragorn in doubt as seen in the Theatrical Trailer

- Aragorn and his fight against the Corsairs and the taking of the Black Ships

- More battle footage of the Siege of Gonder and The Battle of the Pelennor Fields to smooth over pacing issues

- Any additional dialog concerning The Witch King, The White Tree or Minas Morgul

- Gandalf vs. The Witch King confrontation and the breaking of Gandalfs Staff as seen in the RoTK Preview on the TTT DVD - This scene is a must have

- Extended Eowyn vs. The Witch King confrontation, if one exists - More book dialog especially

- If one exists a wide shot of the Corsair Ships arriving at the Pelennor before cutting to the existing scene at the docks

- Gamling's demise on the Pelennor if filmed, which rumors say it was.

- The Slaying of Gothmog by Aragorn and Gimli as seen on the ABC Primetime Special

- The scene where a weeping Eomer finds Eowyn/Theoden on the battlefield as seen in the Theatrical Trailer

- Houses of Healing and the accompanying scenes after the Pelennor including the Eowyn and Faramir romance

- The Funeral of King Theoden and Eomer becoming King of Rohan

- Aragorn alone in Denethors throne room as seen in the RoTK Preview on the TTT DVD

- Sam using the Phial to pass Watchers at Cririth Ungol if filmed.

- The Extended Version of the The Last Debate

- The Palantir Confrontation between Aragorn and Sauron

- The Crossing of Gorgoroth and Frodo and Sams ensuing capture at the hands of the marching orcs

- The Mouth of Sauron sequence in its entirely, including any exposition on the character by Gandalf or Aragorn

- The much rumored Galadriel narrated Epilogue that wraps up the following story lines, assuming there if footage of them
* Eomer becoming King of Rohan
* Faramir becoming ruler of Ithilien
* Arwen's death at Cerin Amroth
* Merry and Pippin being buried next to Aragorn in Gondor
* A very old Samwise sailing into the west
* Gimli and Legolas sailing into the west together and the conclusion of their character arcs
