Practical Science Courses at the Open University
Responsible department: Department for Business, Innovation and Skills
The Open University plans to stop making residential practical courses available to science students. The OU is an important provider of science education for people planning careers in science and science teaching. Practical courses are, and should continue to be, an essential part of science education at university level.
We support the e-petition to the UK Government - calling on MPs and the Department of Education to raise this matter with the Open University, and discuss the possibilities of
reversing this decision, especially in the light of new funding arrangements.
(Original petition was available only to UK residents, and now its scope has been expanded, as many students are overseas. Anyone can sign, whether student or not, UK-resident or overseas).
