One of the many of the horrendous acts still allowed by the Canadian Federal Government is the slaughtering of several hundred thousand seals a year- most of whom do not get to live until adulthood. Instead, they will be clubbed to death or shot, skinned or bled until they die a painful and brutal death which will result in an overwhelming 2\% increase in Canadas annual fisheries. The seals are targeted on account of their predatory nature that threatens cod populations in the waters of Atlantic Canada. Such a flimsy and weak excuse does not fool the Canadian public, many of whom are readily against this unspeakable act of violence that occurs because ultimately, we allow it to.

Please join me as a Canadian and an animal rights activist, regardless of your location. This petition is meant to be a collective voice for those who dont wish to endure any more bloodshed being disguised as population control! Our harp seal numbers are dwindling, with nearly 1 million being hunted every 3 hunting seasons, showing us a steady declination of population. We must be heard! After a selected period of time, your support will be sent to the appropriate government officials in control of this senseless slaughter, and will include (and not be limited to) our Prime Minister, The Honourable Paul Martin, The Minister of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, as well as the Canadian Sealers Association.

I will not stand by and watch our government turn away from the cruelty that is being administered to these defenceless creatures, nor will I stand silent amidst their cry for help. Please help support the petition Save Our Seals and together we can put a stop to an unnecessary hunt that is already threatening to endanger thousands upon thousands of marine animals each year.
