We were DEEPLY disappointed to read in the July 25th Toronto Star that AGC has decided to revoke the license of the Dock's Nightclub due to noise complaints.

This is absolutely the most ridiculous thing I have EVER heard of. Being a former nightclub promoter there is always noice complaints when operating nightclubs, virtually every nightclub in the downtown core is within 750 meters of residential areas. There are 250 houses on the Toronto islands with 750 meters of the Docks entertainment complex, in the downtown core there is THOUSANDS of houses within the 750 meters of around 80 nightclubs, but they have NOT been shut down due to such a petty reason as a noise complaint.

Shutting down the Dock's entertainment complex of all nightclubs is the worse decision that could be made. The Dock's is responsible for over half of the high end concerts that occur in Toronto.

Like the management said in the hearing, the city of Toronto is losing over 39 million dollars in Taxes and will have to cut over 400 jobs. I don't know how you try to make up for this 39 million dollars in taxes but I assure you it better not come from the tax payers pockets because I for one do not want to not only suffer the loss of a GREAT place to go to have a good time but incur the costs of such a stupid decision by this city.

The Docks has been open for over ten years and is known all over the world for their amazing concerts, celebrity guests and most of all the gigantic patio. In Toronto we have North America's largest outdoor liquor licensed patio. You are stripping Toronto of this honour.

This letter has been posted as a petition on www.BeforeLastCall.com, www.clubcrawlers.com, www.clubzone.com, www.meetmeinto.com, www.clubbersparadise.com, www.ginogina.com, www.websocials.com and several others. The total members of these websites is over 500,000 young voters that will be opposed to your decision. I urge you out of the best interests for the people losing the jobs of this club and rely on this complex for the well being of themselves and their families, the taxpayers that will have to foot the bill for the lost taxes, the party goers who love this venue and also for the security of your job come the next election, the 18- 28 year olds will not forget this come election time.

We believe that you need to spend less time worrying about the noise complaints of a couple hundred people in one spot and spend this time elsewhere, maybe concentrating on how to PREVENT shootings in nightclubs and come up with better gun control laws.
