We oppose the planned closure of Wandsworth Museum and urge Wandsworth Council to consult local residents, voluntary organisations and schools on finding ways of keeping it open.

Last year, 30,000 people visited the Museum a 6\% increase on the previous year including some 8,000 local schoolchildren. In addition, the Museum organises a varied programme of outreach events for the elderly, the disabled and those with learning difficulties.

Over the past 20 years the Museum has become a centre in Wandsworth for culture and education. We believe that it plays an invaluable social role in an ethnically mixed borough and that it would be a serious loss to present and future residents if it were closed down.
