Dear Members of the House Committee on Finance,
We, the Students and Community Members of the University of Hawaii System and Community Members of the State of Hawaii, thank you for this opportunity to submit testimony for SB 2114, which appropriates funds to improve safety and security on all campuses throughout the University of Hawaii System.
Since last September, various incidences have occurred that reveal the need for serious safety improvements across the 10-campus system. Rape, sexual assault, property crimes, and vandalism are just a few of the incidences that have beleaguered the campuses and left our students feeling intimidated, apprehensive, and afraid.
We, the Students and Communtity Members of the University of Hawaii System and community members of the State of Hawaii, strongly support the passage of this bill as it would appropriate the necessary funds needed to make the University of Hawaii State campuses safe.
