Seperate Superman and Lois Lane

This is a petition designed to help end the love relationship between Superman and Lois Lane.
I have been a passionate fan of Superman and Lois Lane almost my entire life. But I believe they would be more compatible as friends or work colleagues rather than lovers/ husband and wife as they currently are in the comic books.
Obviously there are several female super-heroes that would make a more appropriate match for Superman; however, this is not about finding him a better mate. This is about re-adjusting the character's image slightly to help make him more interesting in today's world.
Superman's popularity has dramatically decreased over the years. This is due to his lack of significant problems people can relate to i.e. all of his amazing (and essential) powers and abilities are coupled with a perfect life: a human mother, a human secret identity (accompanied with friends and occupation) and, most of all, a human wife. With so much going for him, it's hardly surprising that the public's interest in him has taken a nose-dive.
However, it doesn't have to be that way. This traditional image of Superman (and Lois) has been done to death. It is time for exciting new developments. This is not suggesting that this change is in any way risky -- it is just necessary and long-awaited.
To finally end the relationship between Superman and Lois Lane is taking a significant step to rejuvenating the integrity of the character; it opens the doorway to intriguing story possibilities; and it will add freshness to Superman's image and revive his popularity without damaging his cultural status -- on the contrary, it will reassert it with vigour and passion!
