We the undersigned residentsof Staten Island, New York are very grateful to be part of our newborough you are building up. We ask of you to keep in mind that our borough has no indoor facility for soccer or any sport at this time. Since the loss of the facility to townhouses on Hyland Boulevard.
Soccer is a rapidly growing sport, and city governments, due to the lack of funds, have been unable to keep up with the demands of space the sport requires. We citizens appreciate all your help in getting us one or two more fields built here on Staten Island this past summer season. Fields are a necessity if our youth are to continue to engage in the area's most cost-effective sport and develop key citizenship attitudes like teamwork, sportsmanship and leadership, plus physical conditioning throughout the winter months.
We ask of you to try your best to get our city government or an outside contractor to build us an indoor facility here on Staten Island. Possibly in the new Owl Hollow Fields at Fresh Kills development. This would keep our youth active throughout the cold months, off the streets and get all the benefits the sport has to offer.
Show your support for this project by signing our petition today even if you do not live in the Borough of Staten Island ! We need everyone's signatures to get the attention of the Borough President and proper authorities !! When the petitions have been signed and collected, they will be presented to Borough officials in Staten Island, NY to show there is overwhelming support for youth soccer players and all youth sports !
