Stop Bill 139

To the Honorable Mr. Dalton McGuinty,

Your Government is looking to implement a Bill 139 that would be devastating to the Staffing and Recruitment industry and instead of helping people find work; it would be doing the exact opposite which would basically put the Staffing industry and thousands of temporary employees out of work out of business.

Basically if this passes what could happen is:
A family needed to do a temporary job for us to supplement their income or even EI on a Friday for 8 hours we would then be obligated (due to the proposed legislation) to pay you any and all holiday pay to the employee for the next 32 weeks. On top of that we would also be obligated at the end of the 32 weeks even if they have not worked other than those first 8 hours we would have to pay a one week severance package to the temporary employee. It is not right and this bill is going to eliminate the Temp Staffing Industry and the many people we assist every day completely.

Your government should be supporting Temporary Employment agencies like The People Bank that go out of their way to assist their temporary workers by finding them work quickly and giving them an "in" to some of the top companies in the Country.

We are in the midst of a horrible recession and you are more concerned with shutting down our industry rather than supporting us in the work that we do every day to help candidates find some temporary income while they continue to search for a permanent position.

It is wrong. You have not considered and weighed the consequences of implementing this Bill. You are putting more people out of work and eliminating more jobs than you can even imagine.
