Ethoxyquin is a harmful preservative put into many commercial hermit crab foods. This preservative is put into the foods to prevent the food from going rancid.
Not only is Ethoxyquin put into hermit crab foods, it is also put into many commericial bird foods, and spices such as chili powder and paprika to preserve color.
Lab test have been done on rats, and Ethoxyquin had cause Lathurgy in some rats tested, and it had also caused growth problems, kidney and liver problems, and some other things.
Some land hermit crab food companys, such as FMR (Florida Marine Research Corp.) does not need to list this preservative, as they aren't the ones that put this preservative into this food, the companys which they get their food supplys from do.
I have had these little crabs for four years, and have done much research on them.
So please crab owners, and non-crab owners alike, please sign this petition against companys puting Ethoxyquin into our pet's food.
Thank you fellow crabbers!
