Stop Political Telemarketing

* PETITION TO STOP POLITICAL TELEMARKETING *

PREAMBLE:
Those of us who get extremely annoyed by regular telemarketing calls (which is most of us), ALSO get extremely annoyed when we get a barrage of political telemarketing calls come any voting period.

PETITION DESCRIPTION:
Our President was kind enough to enable a National "Do Not Call" list to which you could add your phone numbers to, and no telemarketer is legally allowed to call those numbers. This is great, however in his infinite wisdom certain calls are still allowed through, to grind on your last nerve simply because it markets POLITICS.

It is beyond the comprehension of this petition writer why, just because it involves a politician trying to sell his agenda and career, that it differs from any other company selling their product, aluminum siding as an example. Or why we are expected to answer our phone and sit there listening to either a live person (rarely) OR some recording (usually), whether you are on the National "Do Not Call" list or not. "Do Not Call" means just that ... DO NOT CALL.

It is very similar to the way politicians have allowed the graffiti and pollution of our roadways known as "Vote For Bill" street signs. Any normal citizen puts up a sign or two on some street corners, for example for your painting company, it gets removed almost immediately, and possibly even fined, yet come vote time, you cannot pass a street corner without seeing a mass of "VOTE FOR (politician) or (referendum, etc.)" signs and even VERY large banners. For some reason politicians are allowed to break the rules we all live by and annoy us with marketing their careers.

There are 2 telephone lines in our household. We have been getting these calls multiple times per day over the last couple of weeks, and as of 4pm today have gotten no less than 8 political calls between the 2 phone lines. More are expected to come as the day/night progress.

PETITION OBJECTIVE:
This petition's aim is to expand upon the "Do Not Call" list: it must be amended to have ALL telemarketing calls, no matter the product being sold, including political careers and agendas, stopped once someone has added their phone number to it. The bottom line is, if someone has taken the time to go to the website to add their number(s) to the list, THEY DO NOT WANT ANY TYPE OF TELEMARKETING TO THIER PHONE WHATSOEVER! No if's, and's or but's.

Please take just a moment to sign this petition. With enough signatures, hopefully it will get enough attention to have this amended to the current "Do Not Call" registry, and we will finally be in peace.
