This petition came into being because of the unacceptable arrangement of DVDs in media stores that I have visited in the past. I am an avid anime fan, and I often find myself browsing stores such as FYE and Sam Goody in search of anime DVDs. It has come to my attention that in many of these stores, the anime DVDs have been placed next to crude and erotic DVDs of the "Playboy" and "Girls Gone Wild" nature. This offends me for more than one reason.
Anime a genre that is actively followed by young children and teenagers - people who do NOT need to be exposed to this kind of garbage. Yes, I realize that there are plastic dividers that are supposed to hide the offensive content, but sadly these dividers don't always remain in place, and there is no mechanism that can stop a young person from accidentally pulling away one of the dividers, thinking that anime DVDs are behind it.
Furthermore, this does not give the general populus a good impression of anime. I have all too often heard the untrue stereotype of "all anime is porn", and with the erotic section right next door to anime, sometimes one can't help but draw a connection between the two.
Please stop this practice immediately. It is appaling, it exposes children to erotic filth, and it fosters a negative impression of the average anime fan. To the companies that this petition is directed to, move the erotic media immediately or we, the undersigned of this petition, may be forced to take our business elsewhere.

I find it hard to continue patronizing these stores when my taste is continually insulted by this odious arrangement. However, all will be forgiven if they listen to their customers and rectify the problem.
