STOP THE BED TAX IN WALES

I/We support the petition to oppose any potential introduction of a 10 per cent BED TAX on all overnight accommodation, which is currently being examined by the Lyons Review into local government finance. Added to the 17.5\% of VAT tourists already pay, this would result in the UK becoming one of the highest taxed holiday destinations in Europe and could wipe up to 50 Million off annual accommodation revenues in Wales.

We also call upon all local and national politicians in Wales to rule out any future introduction of this tax on tourism, which will add 100 to the holiday cost of a family of four, pricing much of the tourism industry in Wales out of the market relative to cheaper destinations in Europe.
