Stop the Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009 (HR 45)

Congressman Rush of Illinois introduced the Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009 (H.R. 45) on January 6th, 2009. This act is unconstitional in my opinion. It infringes on 2nd and 10th amendment rights as well as seizure of personal property.

The constitution has set guidelines for seizing personal property. HR 45 violates this guidelines in my opinion. Under HR 45, a person who currently owns a firearm has 2 years to become licensed. If they fail to become licensed, they would either give up their private property (firearm) or become a criminal. In my opinion this amounts to the government forcing an individual to dispose of private property and equals a seizure by proxy. If law abiding citizens are in possession of a firearm and is not a threat to the public, then that seizure is unconstitutional.

HR 45 also allows the Attorney General to "prohibit the sale or transfer of any firearm that is found to be transferred or distributed in violation of HR 45, an amendment to HR 45, or a regulation issued under HR 45." Which if I understand correctly means if a firearm I purchase legally is later found to at one time violated HR 45, I would be prevented from selling my property.

Gun control does not stop violent crimes! Criminals do not discriminate, if they are willing to break one law, they will break another. You will be taking firearms out of the hands a law abiding citizens, not the criminals.

It's time people stand up to government politicians who believe they can take away our rights. If we don't stand up and let our opinions be known, we have no one to blame but ourselves. Please sign this petition and pass it along. TAKE A STAND NOW!
