Support for Ms. Davetta Sherwood as 'Lily Winters-Romalotti'

We would like to begin by letting you know that as both old and recent fans of 'The Young and the Restless', we are appalled at how you have handled this situation of firing Ms. Davetta Sherwood. 'The Young and the Restless, CBS, and Sony Pictures Television have provided no explanation for this firing and on the CBS website, made the announcement as if Ms. Sherwood never existed.
We consider this unprofessional and a slap in the face not only to Ms. Sherwood and her fans, but to fans in general of 'The Young & the Restless'. Since we are responsible for your ratings, are we not owed the common courtesy of not having a major casting change dropped on us so suddenly and without explanation?
Since we, of course, do not know the reasoning behind this firing, we will not make accusations. This is why we ask for an explanation. However, we think you will understand our shock and disappointment over this decision. To many of us, Ms. Sherwood is and will always be the only 'Lily Romalotti-Winters. She brought sassiness, intelligence, and maturity to the role and we will miss her terribly. With soap ratings as they are, even with Y&R at number one, why you would fire an actress with so much support?
Ms. Sherwood has received praise from many soap opera news magazines and websites such as CBS Soaps-in-Depth, which even stated in their Fall Preview issue that Ms. Sherwood would be their pick to win the Younger Actress Emmy Award.
We are asking you not only for an explanation of this decision, but for a reconsideration of it. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. The viewers who make your soap opera number one in the ratings and demographics are waiting for your courtesy and your response.

Davetta really made the character "Lily" come to life by bringing all sorts of emotion and believability to her role. Y&R has made an unfortunate decision to replace Ms. Sherwood with an actress who abadoned her role to become a "movie star".
