On April 17, 2012, Dr. Reza Moridi (MPP Richmond Hill) put forward a private members motion in the Ontario Legislature for an independent, expert advisory panel to update the HARP Act (Healing Arts Radiation Protection Act), so that it is responsive to the safety of patients. How does this private members bill impact dental hygienists? Updating the HARP Act presents an opportunity to advocate for dental hygienists to have the ability to order radiographs. This change would enhance access to care, enable dental hygienists to practice to their full scope of practice and provide improved oral health services.
