Cosmetic animal testing should be banned in Canada as other nations like India, Israel and the European Union have already done so with success. Animal testing is a cruel and barbaric method to obtain data for an entirely different and complex species - humans. Animals are tortured and killed in these archaic and outdated practices. There are many alternatives to animal testing and the benefits of a non-animal testing route is actually faster and more accurate at predicting human reactions to a cosmetic product, than its animal testing counterpart. Other benefits include, increased reliability, cost-effectiveness, practicality, and expediency. It only makes sense to ban cosmetic animal testing in Canada because it would benefit both researchers and animals.
