The Football Association should be more accountable and consistent

Several incidents in the English Barclays Premier League recently have raised the question of consistancy and accountability within the FA. Specifically the explanations on their own website are often brief and ambiguous. Major decisions such as retrospective red cards are given brief repost without recourse to an explanation of the reasons for a decision or indeed the personnel constituting the decision making process. Specifically with regard to the issue of retrospective decisions. Why are some incidents afforded more gravity (e.g. Vincent Kompany's fair interception in the FA Cup 3rd round) than other equally serious offences. e.g Glenn Johnson's two footed tackle v Manchester City in the Leagur Cup 1st Leg and the Peter Crouch gouge in the match between Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion. Also, are the FA not operating double standards by appealing to FIFA for Wayne Rooney's ban for the blatant kick on a Montenegro player to be reduced?
