The Public Demand Wikipedia Editor Accountability

A system of verifying editors credentials or the outright banning of credentials would be acceptable. The current status quo is not. In summary, either
1) Require proof of credentials;
or
2) Ban credentials altogether.
Why should we trust the information provided by someone that could be potentially lying about their doctorate? What other biases might they be inserting into articles? And indeed, what benefit does it bring for an editor to be able to state they have a doctorate?
The users of Wikipedia have had enough after the Essjay scandal and want accountability! Anything less is simply acceptance of the fact that Wikipedia is not for the users - it is for the editors and their egos.
