The Stop Durable Medical Equipment Medicaid Cuts in Missouri

This petition asks you to reconsider your plan to eliminate Medicaid coverage of Durable Medical Equipment in the State of Missouri.

On the surface, these proposed cuts appear to be a real money saving measure for the State of Missouri.
Nothing could be further from the truth! If you allow these proposed cuts to become reality, they will take away durable medical equipment from those who so desperately need this equipment. Therefore, taking away their freedom of choice to live and be cared for in their own homes!

These deserving people will have no choice but to be institutionalized. If in fact, these cuts take place, based on your own statistics, Missouris healthcare costs could skyrocket almost 6 fold!

It is obvious by your comments in your State of the State Address, that you recognize the importance of in-home health care!

I am certain that a pay increase for home healthcare providers is long overdue.
However, to award them that increase on one hand , while the other hand is taking away those same providers clients or potential clients tools necessary for them to receive home healthcare seems to be totally ludicrous!

If in fact you allow these cuts to take place, you WILL increase the healthcare costs to the state of Missouri and you will significantly decrease the level of health of the state of Missouri!

These proposed cuts in Medicaid for these durable equipment items, to many just represent a line item of your budget. To those with disabilities or chronic illnesses and their families, they represent freedom and hope!

So, governor, we plead with you from the bottom of our hearts.Dont take that freedom and hope away!
We respectfully ask you to take a long hard look at what these cuts REALLY MEAN to Missourians!
We pray that once you have done that, these proposed cuts will NEVER see the light of day!
Thank you.

912. Sarah B | Medicaid has paid for several peices of DME for me. This has made it easier for my family because they do not need to lift me as much as they used to. It has also made it easier for me to get around.
