Dear Political Leaders of Punjab,
We the people of Punjab and the well wishers of Punjab from around the world, petition you for a very important cause.
We are passing through a very critical phase in history when our food, air, water and soil have been contaminated and poisoned more than ever before.
Our food contains poisons like pesticides, herbicides, antibiotics, hormones and Genetic Modifications.
Excessive use of pesticides and chemicals in agriculture is causing them to go in our grains, vegetables and fruits. Injections of hormones and antibiotics to our cattle and poultry has damaged their health and those drugs are going into our food in dangerously high quantities putting at grave risk the health and well being of all Punjabis, our children and even the future generations. Incidence of cancers in the cotton belt and other parts of Punjab has gone up to horrible levels.
Rivers and rivulets of Punjab, which were once the pride of Punjab, have become stinking dirty drains (Nullahs).
Pollution from industries, vehicles and polythene bags is playing havoc with our environment.
Our vultures are gone, sparrows dead and bees have vanished.
Our soil is almost dead and devoid of natural fertility because of overuse of chemicals.
We are pained by the fact that these issues of grave concern to every citizen don't get any priority from our political leaders.
We the people of Punjab have decided that in the coming Lok Sabha Elections, we want to elect only those who are capable enough to understand the importance of these issues and commit themselves to policies that will improve the situation. We also want honest candidates who not only commit but also act to improve the situation. We will also ask our friends and family members to vote for such good candidates. We will work hard to build a public opinion in favour of such candidates and against those who will continue the current apathy for such issues.
To reiterate, in the coming Lok Sabha Elections, we will only vote for those candidates who are capable enough to understand these issues, commit themselves to these issue, and are honest enough to act on what they commit. We expect that your party will give tickets to only such good candidates.
