Urban Chicken Pilot Project Calgary

In Europe chickens are being kept in many backyards in an urban environment. They are not as annoying as people believe. They are incredibly environmentally friendly with a coop of 6 chickens providing anywhere from 4-6 fresh eggs daily and their droppings make excellent fertilizer.
Currently Ward 5's councilor Ray Jones and Ward 9's councilor Gian-carlo Carra are considering approaching city council to allow the pilot project to move forward. Edmonton has just announced it's own pilot project.
Paul Hughes (Calgary activist) told the Metro that "he hopes city officials fly past a trial run and instead issue provisional licences to keep hens for, say, a year and then review and "tweak" the offering as necessary".
Please sign this petition to change the livestock bylaw in Calgary in order to allow the raising and keeping of chickens within city limits. Pass on this petition to all your friends and let's see if we cannot convince our councilors to back this project as well.
