Waste Management in the City of Montreal

Additionally, the City of Montreal has implemented anti-littering bylaws, stressing fines of up to $1,000 for inhabitants caught littering. Although cleanliness inspectors are expected to issue tickets rather than warnings, the amount of tickets that have been issued for this cause has not increased drastically.
As a result, we are requesting that the City of Montreal take a more assertive approach with recycling and waste management. A new waste disposal system will improve the citys cleanliness and encourage its citizens to recycle. We request the implementation of material division-focused litterbins- dispersed profusely throughout the city- which will promote the ongoing recycling of paper, plastic, and glass. We also request that cleanliness inspectors emphasize the consequences of littering and enforce littering bylaws by searching more proactively for offenders, and issuing hefty fines to prevent littering from reoccurring.
