Yukon Employers, Employees, and Injured Workers for Economies of Scale in our WCB System

This Petition of the undersigned shows:
THAT as an insuring agency, the Yukon Workers Compensation Health and Safety Board (YWCHSB) suffers from a lack of economies of scale, which is affecting Yukon businesses and workers in that:
1. Yukon has the highest WCB assessment rates in Canada and the smallest employer base in the country;
2. The high cost of the YWCHSB is a deterrent to business expansion, business retention, and attracting new businesses;
3. Injured Workers have to fight harder to get access to professionals and get the attention and support they need;
4. Yukon Claims costs have dropped by more than 13\% showing that Yukon Businesses are working to make workplace safety part of good business practices.
Therefore:
The undersigned ask the Yukon Legislative Assembly to urge the Government of Yukon to take immediate action to reduce costs and improve efficiencies in the YWCHSB system by enacting Section 124(1)(b) of the Workers Compensation Act and having the Government of Yukon seek opportunities with larger jurisdictions to improve economies of scale.
