The past years, there has been an increase of games that require some sort of 3D feature. Seemingly, all "good" games needs a "frame per second" counter, violence, blood and in some cases sexually explicit content.
In the early to mid 90's, the prevalent game genre was known as Adventure. This featured a "quiet" gameplay, that heeded the use of your brain(s). And most also managed to give us a good laugh. These games featured classic animation in a 2D environment.
Today, we look at the concept art, and we see that it is awe-inspiring. And we remember when such art was part of the game. Where the background and art was as important as the game itself. Little did we know back then that these days would end. Today, after looking at a masterpiece, we're left with a stickman parody. A bareboned version that resembles the original art.. from 2000 feet that is. And we can blame it all on one thing. The 3D games.
This petition goes out to all the developers who try to re-invent the adventure gaming with "3D environment featuring jerky animation, hopeless hardware demands and pathetic voiceovers throwing one-liners that would make George W. Bush look like the most intelligent man in the world."
We want our games back! We're sick and tired of blood, violence and racers. If you aren't able to produce new games that have a good storyline, that doesn't force you to upgrade your hardware AGAIN or refrains from showing polygon "bodyparts" from splattering all over the screen, you should remake the old adventure games so that they run on current systems, then quit your dayjobs.

The capability to make excellent adventure games in 3D is there.... but the truth is the majority of the human population is stupid and it is the majority audience which is targeted by most products. Perhaps is by some chance some company identified this

Hmm...well, I only somewhat agree to what is being said. There has been some excellent 3D adventure games, but also excellent 2D. Speaking of 2D, a new 2D scroller game came out for PS2 & Gamecube. its called Alien Hominid

Bring back 2D games, maybe they weren't as "advanced" but you could see where you were going! No more racing/shooting, I've got money to spend here and it's not going on crap like that.
