A Wooden Coaster for Alton Towers

Since 2002, Alton Towers had looked into the possibility for a wooden coaster. On March 3rd 2003, they submitted plans for a cross valley wooden coaster. At the time, then plans were then withdrawn with the official line that 'the technology isn't right at this time'. Recently, over the past year, a video has surfaced on Youtube with John Wardley, main coaster designer for Merlin Parks, saying that 'Merlin do not think they could market a wooden coaster due to it not being popular or a good theme could be achived with a wooden coaster'.

Fans of Alton Towers and Merlin Parks UK know that this is not the case.

Fans would relish a brand new wooden coaster following a simalar layout to what was proposed in 2002/3. The fans, general public and enthusiasts know this would be one of the most spectacular wooden coasters in the UK if not Europe.

Wooden coasters are about feeling the track creek, the sounds that only wooden coasters can make. There doesnt need to be fancy inversions, a big theme, or huge marketing as wooden coasters sell themselves. Just knowing a park has a wooden coaster brings people in.

The last major wooden coaster in the UK was Megafobia at Oakwood Theme Park in South Wales in 1996. This was prior to the Alton Woodie plans had been submitted and John Wardley being consulted.

I therefore propose, with the undersigned that Merlin Entertainments who own Alton Towers to reconsider their 'No Go' on a Woodie at Alton Towers and seriously consider this. As pre mentioned in this petition and with the signatories in this petition that a Wooden Coaster is worth the investment.
