Against the illusive movie "300"

Iranians and historians across the globe towards the upcoming movie
of 300, in which it portraits Iranians as monsters rising from the
heart of darkness to destroy the Greek civilization. We feel that
this movie not only has done a poor job painting the reality of the
past, but also it has humiliated and mortified the Iranian culture
and the reality of what Iran represented at that era. Iranian's
religion, Zoroastrianism, celebrates life, light and love. We live by
good words, good deeds and good thoughts. Our kings respected all
religions and beliefs and celebrated the festivals of all their
subjects. Farther more, the very first human rights ideas were born
in Iran at this very same era and the proof to this is at the United
Nation's building today. We never walked around naked like animals
and barbarians, we always covered our body with beautiful clothing,
due to the value of our culture. Our society, rich in culture and was
against slavery, and every person in Iran (Persia as the Greeks
called it) was paid accordingly to his or her skills. Even we had
equality between man and woman; and in some cases where women were
higher generals, officers, architects, or ship admirals they were
paid more than men were. Movies like "300" and "Alexander" have
tried to show a lie about Iran and Iranian culture to this day, and
we the Iranians and historians of the world, are creating this
petition to announce that we are against those who are trying to
paint a picture of this rich culture with lies. We strongly urge that
something to be done against these kinds of actions and bring a stop
to this drivel of cultural annihilation. We are counting on the
signature of everyone in the world who is aware of the legitimacy and
authenticity of these facts to bring an end to these despicable
measures in our world.
