Animal Cruelty at Clear Channel Communications

Clear Channel Communications recently allowed two of their radio DJs off the hook after such displays of indecency. After watching the episode of Survivor in which the players killed a pig for food, the DJ in one of Clear Channel's Tampa, Fl stations decided it would be fun to beckon listeners to the radio station parking lot and castrate and then kill a pig. The DJ was arrested yesterday for breaking the FL state law that prohibits the torturing or killing of animals for entertainment, although Channel only suspended the DJ for a week. Another DJ in the Midwest decided it would be fun to throw a chicken out a window of a building to see if it would survive. When the chicken did survive, the DJ proceeded to take the chicken to a higher floor and try again.
Such displays are completely uncalled for and should be dealt with appropriately. The fact that Clear Channel has not responded in a manner parallel with their creed (We believe we have an obligation for the well-being for the communities in which we work) shows its customers and investors that not only is it not concerned with the community but also they are willing to ignore their own morals and values and those of their customers and investors in hopes of better ratings.
We, the undersigned, request that Clear Channel take appropriate action to reprimand these DJs, put a process in place to ensure that nothing like this happens again, and make a donation to an animal cruelty organization to promote the education of animal cruelty and rights.
