Art Destruction Alert

This delightful art at Washington School (Santa Clara and 8th Street) has been seriously compromised because a few people decided that the silhouette on the right is racist. That figure is one of four especially designed to represent the diverse student body at the school. Friends of Washington School secured a grant and donations to design, produce, and mount the metal cutout figures about a year ago. On Halloween day, principal Jeff Knoth arranged for the clandestine removal of the art, which is now sequestered in a place unknown.
