After many conversations with various levels of managment in Telstra about the unreliable internet service in our area, including the CEO David Thoday's office, the onus has fallen to us as a community to band together and demand that we are no longer disadvantaging our school aged children, university students, home business owners/operators etc.
It has come to my attention that there is a remote exchange in our area (Cnr. Glenmore and Shemish) which has the capability of servicing our whole area with reliable and fast interent. It is unclear why this exchange was put where it is and not connected to all properties in the area, but this is has happened. It is connected to a small section of Bonogin only.
The exchange does not have the infrastructure to connect the rest of area at the moment and we are not on Telstra Wholesale's plan to do so in the near future. Telstra require market demand in order for us to be added to Telstra Wholesale's projects so that funds can be allocated to expedite the process.
I believe that Telstra would have this market demand and so by signing this petition we can make a joint step forward in achieving what we have the right to - reliable, fast internet.
