What is it that properly gives you the Christmas spirit? Is the Salvation Army band playing festive tunes on the high street? Is it the smell of hot roasting chestnuts from a steaming stall in a market square? Is it possibly the smell of mulled wine brewing in your own kitchen? Maybe it is because of my commercialised generation, maybe it is because of the constant bombardment of advertisements I have suffered from birth, but for me the real sign of Christmas is one television advert in particular. This advert has been a part of my Christmas from since I can properly remember. The advert I talk of is the Christmas Coca-Cola advert. Surely you know the one - '...holidays are coming, holidays are coming..."? At first I thought I was alone, but I found this was not the case, it even states on the Coca-Cola official website that "It's not Christmas 'till I've seen that(holidays are coming) advert..."
I have had testimonies from people who seem distraught over the abandonment of the old advertising campaign and share the feeling that Christmas will not be the same without it. You may think this is a gross exaggeration of the situation, or perhaps that surely it is not proper that an advert should hold so much persuasion over the nation, but let us not forget the entire popular image of Santa Clause in his red outfit is a product of the minds of Coca-Cola's advertising department! We cannot let this advertising campaign die out, we must make ourselves heard. This is why this site has been set up so that we can show Coca-Cola that we need them to play, for us, this Christmas, that advert. Even one showing will be classed by us a victory.
