We are asking that the State of Texas have mercy on George Angel Rivas for his part in the murder of Irving Police Officer Aubrey Hawkins. We ask that a life sentence be imposed even if it means life in solitary confinement. Although this is no life at all. Mr.Rivas did NOT intend for anyone to die that night and he should NOT be put to death.
We do not condone the fact that a police officer was gunned down but feel that the death penalty is wrong, and if imposed should also be imposed on all people involved in carrying out the orders of the court.
The law reads "If anyone knowingly and willingly kills another, it is a crime." When the state of Texas puts a person to death are they not knowingly and willingly doing so, therefore shouldn't each person involved in the process of an execution be responsible for the death of that person?
Mr.Rivas deserves to live his life even if it is from behind bars, MURDERING him will not bring back Mr.Hawkins.
