We, the undersigned, are requesting the State of Georgia to enact an infertility insurance mandate. Currently, 15 states in the U.S. are required to offer or treat infertility. These mandates were designed to make conception more affordable (and less emotionally draining) to the 1 of 6 couples that struggle with the problem. Furthermore, in these mandated states, infertility treatments are more successful and less risky for the mother and child. A mandate is estimated to cost about $3 per year per insurance subscriber and infertility treatments only account for 0.003\% of U.S. health care costs. However, without the assistance of insurance to pay for treatments ranging from medications to IVF, many people will never experience the joy of pregnancy, childbirth, or watching their child grow.
